Jason Berard UVLT Welcomes New Stewardship Coordinator, Jason Berard

For several years, Jason has worked with the Dartmouth Outing Club to coordinate volunteers in their efforts to steward and maintain portions of the Appalachian Trail. His formal educational background is in painting and art history, so if you notice an improvement in UVLT's esthetics, chalk it up to UVLT's newest employee! You're likely to see him outside soon monitoring easements & maintaining trails. Vice President of Stewardship, Pete Helm, is very glad to have a couple more hands to share the work of stewarding the over 400 easements now held by UVLT!

Willey Farm Productive Farmland & Scenic Views Conserved in Thetford

According to Thetford Conservation Commissioner, Connie Snyder, "The view across the Willey Farm is a lovely part of most peoples' lives here in town - one of those jewels one almost takes for granted until one day a new development changes the land forever and then it's too late to recover the rolling meadows and fine hardwood forests that are a priceless part of our local heritage. We need to cherish every bit of farmland we have left in this valley - for practical agricultural reasons and because it is just so beautiful. Lilla Willey understands this and she did do something about it."

Come and explore the wonders of wetland ecology at the recently conserved Chas Baker Sugarbush property in Strafford with Steve Faccio, a conservation biologist at the VT Center for Ecostudies, and Amber Boland, Conservation Mapping and Field Specialist at the UVLT.
