Our photo display featuring lands conserved with UVLT during the past 25 years is now hanging at the Ledyard Bank branch located in Lebanon.  We hope you'll stop by to check it out!

 

 

 

Northern Pass Project Update

 According to today's Concord Monitor, "Northern Pass is expected to ask the U.S. Department of Energy to take five alternative routes out of consideration for a project that would bring hydroelectricity through the state via 180 miles of power lines."  This would include the alternative route that would have crossed through the Upper Valley.  View the full article on the Concord Monitor's website.

 

LCHIP Funding is at Risk!

New Hampshire's Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP) - is once again in jeopardy.  Despite having a "dedicated" funding source, the program faces the total loss of funding for the next two years under the budget proposal passed by the New Hampshire House of Representatives on March 31.  Help save LCHIP by contacting your state senators this week!  To do so now visit:http://gencourt.state.nh.us/senate/senatemembers.asp.  To learn more, read a recent letter to the editor in Seacoastonline.com or visit the news section of our website.

Cedar Circle Farm's Cat Buxton will lead us on an hour-long walking tour of the farm's operations.  Wear appropriate footwear and bring your questions about the steps it takes to rouse the farm after a New England winter!

Flavors of the Valley

Flavors of the Valley is an event organized by Valley Food & Farm (VF&F), a program of Vital Communities. Flavors showcases local food and farm products in a gathering of farmers who grow our food, restaurants that prepare it, grocers who sell local farm products, and nonprofit organizations that support local agriculture.  The event features approximately 60 farm, restaurant, retail, and nonprofit vendors. Please stop by UVLT’s table to say ‘hi’ and learn about the ways that UVLT’s work supports local farms.

Spring Migrants along the Connecticut River

Wilson's Landing, Lyme Road, Hanover, NH

Join the Hanover Conservation Council, Upper Valley Land Trust and NH Audubon Mascoma Chapter for a spring bird walk led by Art Mudge & George Clark.  Children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Bring binoculars and scopes if available and dress warmly. Participants should be prepared to walk as much as a mile. This walk will not be held in case of steady rain or hazardous driving conditions. 

Meet at Wilson's Landing on Lyme Road, Hanover, then along River Road with occasional stops to Grant Brook Sanctuary for loop walk and meadow between road and river.

Conservation Easement Monitor Training

Do you like hiking off trail? Do you enjoy visiting beautiful places?

Join the Upper Valley Land Trust’s team of volunteer easement stewards to monitor conserved properties around the region.

This training includes an indoor session with general easement information and instruction on using a map and compass; as well as an outdoor portion for hands-on field practice.
