Join us on June 8th to Celebrate Land Conservation
This year thousands of people enjoyed our trails and campsites, ate vegetables, fruit, meat, milk and maple syrup from conserved farmland and observed and learned about nature on the properties we own. The conservation of farms, forests, and water resources contributes to the health and resiliency of the Upper Valley and benefits all residents. On June 8th, friends and supporters of UVLT’s conservation mission will gather at Ohana Camp in Post Mills to celebrate.
Please join us for hikes, stories, awards, music, good food and camaraderie. All are welcome… If you are available in the afternoon, come for a hike at Ely Mountain, a chance to speak with special guest Mary Holland and enjoy her natural history displays, and converse with Trustees and staff. Or stop by at 7pm for a report on the year’s achievements, ongoing projects and future goals. Bring your kids or grandkids,
stay as long as you like. Ohana Family Camp is a charming site with views of mountains and Lake Fairlee – truly a destination retreat.
Snacks and beverages will be available for those who come early for hikes, walks and games; the porch and main lodge will open for social time, musical entertainment and drinks at 5pm; we’ll serve dinner beginning at 6pm. (RSVP for dinner by June 1st). Please note WIFI, Internet, and cell phones are not in service on site but do work one mile away. We look forward to visiting with you, greeting long-time supporters, new friends and members, and sharing a great program including awards and accomplishments of the past year.
Our 2015 Annual Celebration features our 208-acre forest at Ely Mountain given by Jock and Deecie Denison and supported by contributions from more than 90 local families, businesses and the Thetford Conservation Commission. The strong community support for this project, in the final weeks of 2014, was one of this year’s proudest accomplishments. The hike to the signature maple trees at Ely Mountain will begin at 4 p.m. and the longer hike (two hours total) to the summit of Ely Mountain will begin at 3:00 p.m. Our stewardship team of Doug Brown and Jason Berard will be leading these walks.
