Join the Upper Valley Land Trust and the Orford Conservation Commission to take advantage of a special opportunity to visit this prominent peak in the Connecticut River Valley. We’ll learn the origin of this place name, and take in the amazing views looking southerly down the river towards the iconic Fairlee/Orford Bridge and beyond. We’ll take breaks along the climb to share some of the natural wonders found along the way. The hike will be steep, climbing 800 feet in elevation along the network of woods roads that will take us to our destination for the day; one of the many spectacular vistas along the ridge.
The hike will be approximately 3 miles long, total hike time will be approximately 3 hours. Please bring suitable hiking shoes, water, snacks, and any bug/ sun protection that may be needed. Free. Registration required. Register here.
Directions: From the Fairlee/Orford Bridge, drive 2.2 miles north on Route 10 to a private driveway on the right (UVLT event sign will be posted here). Follow the driveway uphill to the field where we’ll park.
