Mission Monarch – Count the Cats(erpillars)

August 3 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Help Monitor Monarchs at Up on the Hill Conservation Area

Saturday, August 3, 9 – 10:30 am

Join Sullivan County Education and Outreach Specialist Dawn Dextraze and the Upper Valley Land Trust to learn about monarch life cycles as part of the 2024 International Monarch Monitoring Blitz, which takes place around the world from  July 26 – August 4, 2024!

During this event, we will actively search milkweed plants for monarch eggs, caterpillars, and adult butterflies. We will record our observations on data sheets for uploading into the Mission Monarch database.

All equipment will be provided, and most can be taken home with you. Please wear long pants and sunscreen/bug spray and bring water and some snacks. If you’d like, pack a picnic lunch to enjoy afterward!

This event is free and open to the public (families welcome!). Advance registration is requested.

Directions: Follow route 12 in Charlestown to Morningside Lane and turn left onto Richardson Road,  a long dirt driveway with a parking area at the end. You will see a kiosk.
