Ely Mountain ALMOST (not quite) Conserved
Thetford residents and UVLT are working hard to establish a Conservation Area at Ely Mountain before year end. Landowners Jock and Deecie Denison intend to give 208 acres of forests and trails to UVLT and a fundraising campaign is underway to raise the money needed for the transaction. A Valley News story reported that the Denison’s gift has occurred. That report is exciting but inaccurate – approximately $24,000 remains to be raised .
We invite you to support the campaign and join in upcoming activities at Ely Mountain. To learn more or RSVP contact Jason Berard. Saturday, December 6th, 1 – 3pm: Join us at the home of Jock and Deecie Denison, 892 Quinibeck Road, to visit the property, learn about our plans for the Ely Mountain Conservation Area and how you can support it and enjoy some refreshments with UVLT staff and Thetford Conservation Commissioners. Sunday, December 14 at 10:00am: A more rigorous trek and exploration of the Ely Mountain area will be led by UVLT’s Jason Berard and Anne Janeway.
