In collaboration with the Ecological Research Institute and National Park Service, UVLT will be presenting a workshop on how landowners, land managers, and citizen scientists can participate in the Monitoring and Managing Ash (MaMA) program.
This effort enables detection and reporting of “lingering ash” – mature trees that remain healthy during and after peak emerald ash borer (EAB) invasion. U.S. Forest Service scientists have shown that material from lingering ash can be used to breed EAB-resistant trees, providing significant hope for these trees. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to collect important data and how to incorporate lingering ash detection into ash management.
