Spring 2026 Paddle the Border

Sunday, May 17
Suggested launch time, 10:30 am-11:30 am / Woodsville, NH, Community Field

The Paddle the Border (PTB) event was started as a way for community organizations from Vermont and New Hampshire to work together to showcase our shared asset, the Connecticut River.

The route down the river has the paddlers passing by UVLT conserved lands and a couple of our remote campsites, including our Howard Island campsites. The Old Church community theater group in Bradford may be doing a re-enactment of the “Rogers Rangers debacle” on the Howard Island North campsite!

The event is sponsored by the Newbury Conservation Commission-NCC, Haverhill Recreation Commission-HRC, and Cohase Chamber of Commerce, with support from Upper Valley Land Trust, Bradford Parks & Recreation, Upper Valley Trails Alliance, Strawberry Farm Band, Butler’s Bus Service, Haverhill Conservation Commission, and the Connecticut River Conservancy.

The Paddle is held twice a year weather permitting (no rain dates are planned).

  • The Spring Paddle goes from Woodsville Community Field in Woodsville to the Bedell Bridge State Park Boat Launch off Route 10, Haverhill Corner, NH;
  • There is a shuttle service from the takeout to the launch site.
  • The shuttle service is available from 10 am to 11 am; with a suggested launch time of 10:30 to 11:30 am;
  • The approximate paddle time is 3-1/2 to 4 hours;
  • At the end of the paddle there will be music by the Strawberry Farm Band and a cookout by Cookout by Jazz’s Children Fund.
