Local Farm Earns Statewide Honor

We are pleased to add our voice to the many sending congratulations to the Taylor Brothers (and their father Steve, long-time UVLT friend and supporter) for receiving the 2012 “Green Pastures Award” as the New Hampshire Dairy Farm of the Year!  This award recognizes exceptional  farm practices, management, conservation, and community leadership.

Steve Taylor is a former UVLT Board member, currently serves on UVLT’s Advisory Council, and has been a UVLT member-supporter since 1998. He was instrumental in helping his mother Edith protect her land spanning Plainfield’s Freeman Hill down to the Connecticut River. Steve and his wife Gretchen started their farm in Meriden in 1970, and Taylor Farm, now run by his sons, has expanded operations to include maple products and delicious artisan cheeses.  A portion of the farmland that now supports Taylor Farm was conserved in 1989 by David and Marjorie Benson with an easement to UVLT.

Congratulations to Jim, Bill, Rob and Steve Taylor for representing New Hampshire so well with the Green Pastures Award!
