The land at Alswell Farm is part of a loop that one can walk from the Green at Parade Ground Rd in Hanover Center (abundant parking in all seasons). From the Green, travel east along Wolfeboro Road, past the Alswell Homestead and a neighboring home, about ½ mile until you reach an opening to a field on the Alswell property on the Class 6 portion of the road (there is often a sign here welcoming foot travel). Entering here, you can travel across the fields up the hill to a break in the stone wall where the Alswell property meets a neighboring town-protected property and trail that leads to Hayfield Road and eventually back along the Hanover Center Road.  The majority of the property is open for exploring. (See Alswell Map).  You will likely see snowshoe, sledding, and ski tracks heading off in various directions.  Enjoy exploring the wetland and woodlands as well.

Driving directions from Hanover:

From the Dartmouth Green, travel east on East Wheelock St. which turns into Trescott Rd. and follow to the end where it intersects with Etna Rd.

Turn left (north) on Etna Rd. which becomes Hanover Center Rd., travel through the village of Etna, past the Hanover Reservoir, to the green at the top of the hill in Hanover Center.

At the northeast corner of the green, turn right onto Wolfeboro Rd.

There is a limited amount of parking at the end of the maintained section of Wolfeboro Road and on the side of the road. Please be courteous to neighbors and the road crew — do not block the road or driveways. There is ample parking all seasons at the Hanover Center Green and it’s a pleasant walk down Wolfeboro Road, past the farm, to the entry into the Alswell fields.
