Hands On at Lyme Pinnacle
Since UVLT conserved the 200+ acres of land around Lyme Pinnacle early this year many volunteers have been hard at work!
The most noticeable improvement is the brand new parking lot off of Highbridge Road that was built by Wayne Pike, who donated his time for this project. The new parking lot easily fits twelve cars. That’s an improvement from cars parked at the side of the road! Our kiosk will soon be installed there with a trail map and other information about the property.

All the trails have been brushed out by UVLT staff with help from John and Helen Skelly. A team from Hypertherm joined UVLT staff as part of a service day and cleared the view at the top. A group of employees from RSG also participated in a volunteer day and built a whole new section of trail (blazes coming soon!)

The paths through the field have been mowed by Tyler Rich. Phil Harrison has made the wet areas along the trail from the parking lot to Cutting Hill Lane easier to travel with new bog bridges. Kirsten Glass and Brian Spence removed the encroaching branches from the pines along the hedgerow in the southern field along the old snowmobile trail, which have been stacked into piles for a future bonfire during a winter event.

Finally, after all of this hard work and the arrival of the long anticipated parking lot we will be holding a “ribbon cutting” event at Pinnacle on October 13th at at 1pm. While there is no actual ribbon to cut we will be holding a celebratory walk to the top, with a picnic lunch and kite flying party. We invite you to come out, bring your families, and enjoy this special place with the other people who love it like you do.
